Fish Bone Stuck In Your Throat?

This is not something I would ever usually talk about on my blog but I think this will be very useful information for somebody else in the same situation.

Tonight, my sisters and I have just had a delicious dinner of grilled fresh salmon, hot salsa and ricotta pasta...then we had a dinner drama.

My youngest sister choked on a thick salmon bone and it got lodged at the top of her throat. This is what happened next;

1. She drank lots of water (ADVICE: Don't do this, this can make it worse).
2. Then she attempted to puke it up (didn't work)
3. We googled 'fish bone stuck in throat' and the most useless advice came up such as (eat bread, eat oats, go to the hospital..stick gum on the end of a dental floss stick, stupid but we tried it, also didn't work).
4. Called NHS direct....waiting in line...

Then, my sister asked for a latex glove......she used the glove to grab the fish bone...IT WORKED! Her fingers were too slippery to get a grip of the bone.

So, I hope this helps somebody else who finds themself in this same situation, it was scary! Glad she's OK now, eating some brownie and fresh cream.

Night night.

Terrybly good kohl By Terry

I am a sucker for kohl! I owned all of the Guerlain little Kohl things around 10 years ago, which looked like they belonged in the Museum of Ancient Egyptian Antiquities (lost them a long time ago moving). I also prefer to wear kohl and the lived-in liner look more than eyeshadows, I find it  brings out the colour of your eyes and looks more flattering without looking like you have ten different eyeshadows on a la Kim Kardashian.

These kohl pencils from By Terry are truly stunning! I saw them in Space.NK a few weeks ago and I bought myself Bronze Generation (a khaki bronze with subtle gold shimmer) and I bought my mum Blue vision (an electric blue/purple).

I am also going to buy a Blue Vision for myself but at £22 for a pencil, I'll have to wait a little while.

Each kohl pencil comes with a cute pencil sharpener (like Chanel), which is super handy and rightly expected at that price.

You can wear these pencils as an eyeliner or kohl, they have excellent lasting power and I also noticed the more you blend them, the more shimmery they become (if you want that effect).

I would love to own all of them, maybe one a month is feasible?

What kohl pencils do you use?

Beauty Lover, Omorovicza

This is the start of my Beauty Lover posts and my first category begins with the foundation of beautiful skin, something we all need, a brilliant cleanser. This is my most recent beauty lover, Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm.

The product

For the past 3 weeks I have been using Omorovicza's award winning thermal cleansing balm and I have fallen in love! This little black pot of goodness contains Hungarian Moor Mud, which gives it the grainy black/grey colour, sweet almond oil, mineral cosmetology (a patented mineral delivery system) and has the delicous calming scent of orange blossom (which is also the key ingredient in comfort zone's glorious and addictive tranquility oil).

I thoroughly enjoy using this cleansing balm to remove every last trace of make up, it doesn't come with a muslin cloth like Eve Lom or Liz Earle and you definitely do need a cloth/mitt.

I use the spatula to scrape out what I need to cleanse the whole of my face and neck, a lot goes a long way because as you rub it between your fingertips, it turns into a delicious oil. I can even use this to remove my long lasting eye make up and it doesn't sting or make my eyes go blurry (like Eve Lom).

I use the same method as Eve Lom, I soak the muslin cloth in warm - hot water, place the cloth onto my face three times and then remove the make up in circular motions. It is so satisfying to see every last trace of make up and cleanser transfer onto the cloth.

My skin?

Is glowing, supple, smooth and minimal unsightly pores!

I have normal/combination skin and this cleanser is perfect for me, I would say it's suitable for all skin types, even oily.

Price

£46 for a 50ml jar

Available from Liberty's or Omorovicza online.

Next on my list, the Queen of Hungary Mist and one of the superstar serums, maybe Radiance Renewal or  Rose Lifting Serum...hmmmm, decisions, decisions..either way, I know I will be impressed with anything from this range going by the glorious cleanser.

To buy or not to buy?

Are you influenced by beauty bloggers to buy?

I have been debating about this with myself on my daily dog walks. I can answer this question for myself (with both yes and no), but not for fellow beauty bloggers, fellow PR’s, blog readers and for those who use blogs for research. So, I would love for you to share your thoughts on whether you are, have been or maybe not influenced to buy products after seeing or reading about something on a blog.

I've tried to keep this post short and sweet because I would really like your feedback. Please vote on my poll, comment on the post or if you’d rather tell me in private, email me at farrahkg@gmail.com.

YES

I have been reading blogs for around two and half years now and I have been blogging (part time mind you) for almost 2 years. I have been influenced to buy A LOT through reading other beauty blogs.

Why? Because I like to read honest, real reviews and I’m a sucker for good photography. I don’t buy make up (colour) online without  googling colour swatches on blogs first,  because the images on a lot of brands websites are not real life swatches and I find that the photography or graphics used do not reflect the true colour of a product (I must add here that I know Illamasqua use real life swatches for their nail polishes which is such a clever route to take).

So, by seeing a blogger, for example,  Temptalia actually model the OCC lip tars on her lips as well as swatches, this makes me want and NEED these colours/products in my life. This is where I have been influenced and then actually bought products straight away.

More recently, I was influenced by Holly over at Yummy Mummy’s Beauty Blog to buy the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eye shadows…well, erm, THREE of them actually. Holly posted  brilliant pictures of her modelling the colour, swatches and product shots and her review was specific, detailed and she anticipated what you would want to know about the product and answered everything. Next on my list to buy are the clarins lip perfectors she blogged about! I WANT!

NO

However, there are times when I am not influenced whatsoever, it could be a brand I love, a product I want and know I’ll buy anyway..but I am not remotely influenced by blog posts which have copied and pasted a press release.

Lately I have learned about things in blogging which I didn't know existed, thanks to Kaushal at BeautyFulfilled (who has influenced me to want to buy  RioBlush City Girl), such as sponsored posts. Firstly, what exactly are sponsored posts? Secondly, Is it a genuine review? Are you really recommending your loyal readers to buy this? Or, are you only giving this product blog space because it's a sponsored post? Finally, I really admire bloggers who are honest about sponsored posts, however, how do you know which bloggers are choosing not to openly state they are involved with sponsored posts?

Have you been influenced by beauty bloggers to buy?

Have you bought something after reading a review and loved it? or maybe you hated it?

Eyeko, My Lip Lover

Image taken from www.eyeko.com
Bright statement lips are so in and oh so HOT! I love Eyeko's red/orange liptastik lip pen in 'Lip Lover', it's so flattering and there's no need for a sharpener, just wind it up for a fresh nub (I think that's the correct word for the tip of a lipstick). This is such a Kourtney Kardashian colour!

The Liptastik pen is liner, lipstick and gloss all in one. Highly pigmented, cute packaging and excellent lasting power...so you can understand I was shocked at the purse-friendly price at £6.50!

You can buy Eyeko (which means love in Japanese) online at www.eyeko.com

Chanel's little pots of Ooh La La

I have been back and forth from Europe (hence the lack of blogging), in and out of airports (which is why I have so many products to write about)..and you know where us beauty fiends bee-line to in duty free....yes of course, the cosmetic counters.

Those of you who know me and who have been reading my blog from the beginning, will know I have been a loyal Chanel beauty madam since 17 (when I discovered Uma Thurman wore Rouge Noir in Pulp Fiction). My college girlfriends and I religously bought every Chanel star product, which I still have some of to this day.

While I was duty free shopping, I finally had some time to indulge in a bit of Chanel and picked up these stunning little pots of joy, the Illusion D'Ombre gel eyeshadows.

As you can see, I couldn't just have one, I would have loved to buy all of them but at £22 a pot, I settled for three. They look like air whipped delicious eyeshadow cakes, rich in pigment and so smooth to apply, a little goes a long way. I also noticed that the more you blend, the more the flecks of silver, purple and gold come out, truly stunning.

86 Ebloui - a rusty copper brown (I call this a Kim Kardashian colour eyeshadow)
84 Epatant - a khaki/gun metal silver with gold specks
83 Illusoire - a spectacular purple/grey. I LOVE this colour
Swatches from top to bottom: Ebloui, Epatant, Illusoire
I have been wearing Ebloui and I can confirm, it is long wearing and did last me all day, from 7am until 8pm. Have you bought any of the other Illusion D'Ombre colours? I have had fun wearing Ebloui with Epatant.
